Our History

Wentz’s UCC church has a long history of providing a home for local education. The first school was located in a log cabin predating the church, around 1740. The white house in the parking lot was a one room school for local farmers’ children over a hundred years ago, until public schools were available. In 1959 a decision was made to create a Kindergarten program for the community because it was not offered in public schools, and was named Wentz’s Week Day School.

Since the establishment of the Day School, our program has played a role in the early childhood education of countless children in our community. As times change, we have adapted and continue to adapt to the needs of our children and their families.

In 2018, all schools in Pennsylvania were required to meet state guidelines to stay open. At this time we officially became Wentz’s Pre-School which certifies us for the care of children ages 2 years old through Kindergarten.
