Transitional kindergarten is for our 4 and 5 year old students who miss the kindergarten cutoff or are still developing their social, emotional, and academic kindergarten readiness skills. Our transitional kindergarten is dedicated to providing a unique and enriching experience for students through developmentally appropriate learning experiences. Each day is carefully planned to include one on one and small group instruction on early math, pre-reading and writing, language development, and fine motor skills. Play-based learning activities are planned to enhance creativity and work on problem-solving skills and social interactions among TK students. Our learning time also includes time outdoors. It provides children with opportunities to explore, learn and grow in ways that simply cannot be replicated indoors. Outdoor learning not only teaches critical life skills such as resilience, teamwork and creativity but is central to children’s enjoyment of childhood.
The additional year in transitional kindergarten ensures that students are well-prepared for the academic challenges they will encounter in kindergarten and beyond.
